I was asked to attend a meeting in Jefferson City recently to be a part of the initial planning for the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s 2030 strategic plan. Beyond the fact that it is somewhat jarring to realize 2030 isn’t that far away, the shear amount of data we covered in the meeting was staggering.
The Missouri Chamber understands that business leaders and communities are going to have to own our collective future term-limited legislators aside. They understand that data is going to drive that process for good decision making, so companies like Gallup and others are pulling together the resources we’ll use to drive the process.
One piece of data that brought a great visual to the discussion was the taxfoundation.org infographic representing the real value of $100 in each state. It is a visual that combined data and imagery to help create understanding.
No matter how we react emotionally when we painfully swipe that card for that gift item or pump that gallon of gas, our buying power here in Missouri actually ranks right up there in comparison.
Some of the information on the graph surprised me. Curious about your thoughts…
